A Truly Special Wedding with Personality at Hirst Priory

In May 2019, the team at Hirst Priory, led by owner and experienced wedding planner, Hazel Wheatley, hosted Jessica and Kieron’s special day.

With their passion and desire to make memories for both themselves, and special friends and family, it was a day that everyone involved will remember for years to come.

The happy couple got engaged abroad when they were travelling around Thailand, a place they have been a few times previously and loved. In Koh Phi Phi they were snorkelling and diving for shells and Keiron swam up to Jessica holding the ring which she thought he had found on the ocean floor but then popped the question. Jessica said she nearly drowned!

One of the unique spaces offered by Hirst Priory for weddings is their enchanting woodland area which helps to provide a magical ceremony that is unique, different, stylish and breathtaking.

The woodland area was cleared by the Hirst Priory team two years ago and paved the way for creating a very special place for couples to hold their wedding ceremony.

Jessica and Kieron had a clear vision when it came to deciding the wedding theme – festivals and music. The party was the main focus for the couple, and the ingredient to all good parties is the music.

Playing the couple’s favourite tunes throughout the day was Piano DJ, covering upbeat house music to classic Queen and where Bohemian Rhapsody sung by the entire party almost raised the roof.

Later on in the evening, the DJ on his Pioneer decks, accompanied by a saxophonist, played house and techno music and this became a huge highlight of the evening when the couple were lifted on to family members’ shoulders, singing out with pure joy and love.

An array of decorations with enchanting lights, stunning flowers and colourful smoke torches for a dramatic festival effect were captured in amazing imagery by Kazooieloki Photography.

Said Jessica : “As soon as I saw the woodland area at Hirst Priory I knew there and then that it was where I wanted mine and Kieron’s wedding to be. Festivals were a major part to the theme and the woodland made it a reality.

“I never wanted a formal wedding. I wanted all our friends and family to have fun and enjoy themselves celebrating with us.”

The couple opted for a festival theme, full of Bohemian styling which reflected their personality perfectly.

Dream catchers, floating jars, a rustic leather settee, inviting arm chairs and a classic old piano set within the woodland gave the area a rustic and quirky feel.

The natural greenery combined with Jessica’s chosen meadow-styled flowers complemented their festival theme further.

Wooden benches and covered straw bales for guests to sit on were placed on either side of the aisle which was centered in the middle of the woodland.

In keeping with the woodland feel, the bridesmaids’ dresses had a leaf lace design which tied in with the foliage and trees, a small detail which worked exceptionally well.

The groom and groomsmen were all dressed in tweed with pale moss-green ties to match the bridesmaids’ dresses and stylish brogue shoes. The groom also sported a flat cap, a conventional twist but one which suited Kieron down to a tee.

Once the ceremony was completed under the overhanging branches with the sun glistening through, guests then had the excitement of entering the huge tepee by Serentipi that was put up on Hirst Priory grounds where the party could begin in earnest.

Continuing the theme inside, the tepee was decorated with the same magical theme as the woodland and at night the fairy lights added a touch of romance, with everyone enjoying the fabulous atmosphere.

Added Kieron: “The team at Hirst Priory did a great job in transforming the woodland area and tepee to how Jessica and I envisaged our wedding day. All our family members and friends keep saying they had a wonderful time and would never forget our special day.”
